All Nexen tires approved for EVs

In 2024, electric and hybrid vehicles reached an important milestone: they accounted for 20% of new vehicle sales in the United States, and slightly more in Canada depending on the province. Electrification, despite a slight slowdown, is no longer a projection—it’s an established reality.

For Blackcircles.ca customers, this means choosing tires that can meet the technical demands of new powertrains without compromising performance for gasoline vehicles.

At Nexen Tire, this transition has been anticipated for several years. With the EV Root designation, most of the passenger tire lineup is designed to be compatible with gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. This isn’t a special edition—rather, each tire is engineered from the ground up with EV requirements in mind.

The mechanical differences are significant. Electric motors deliver maximum torque instantly, which increases wear during acceleration. Batteries also add extra weight, putting greater load on the tire’s internal structure. Finally, since there’s no engine noise, road noise becomes much more noticeable inside the cabin. Nexen’s EV-compatible tires are built to handle these factors while maintaining stability, durability, and comfort on traditional vehicles.

The N’Priz S Grand Touring All-Season exemplifies this approach. Available in 48 sizes for cars, SUVs, and electric vehicles—including the Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Toyota Prius, Hyundai IONIQ 6, and Kia EV6—it was developed using AI x VI technology, which combines artificial intelligence and virtual simulation to optimize tread design, rubber compound, and internal structure before real-world testing.

On the road, this translates into a quieter ride, consistent grip on dry and wet pavement as well as in light winter conditions, and improved wear resistance to handle the extra weight and instant torque of EVs. The treadwear warranty extends up to approximately 130,000 km for gasoline vehicles and 100,000 km for electric vehicles, along with road hazard protection and roadside assistance.

EV compatibility isn’t limited to a single model. The N’FERA Sport, N’Blue 4 Season 2, and MTX lineups share the same engineering philosophy. Whether you’re after high performance, four-season versatility, or off-road capability, each tire is designed to deliver optimal performance—no matter the powertrain.
