Experiencing the Continental TerrainContact A/T 2 in Iceland: Built for the Road Less Travelled

Glaciers, gravel roads and geothermal waters: Iceland provided an unforgettable setting to discover Continental’s newest all-terrain tire.

In September 2026, Martin Gendron, President of blackcircles.ca, travelled to Iceland at Continental’s invitation for an executive driving experience celebrating the launch of the Continental TerrainContact A/T 2.

The trip brought together industry executives to experience the tire firsthand while exploring some of Iceland’s most remarkable landscapes. For Martin, it was an opportunity to get behind the wheel, drive across varied surfaces and discover what this new generation of all-terrain tire had to offer.

Behind the wheel on snow, ice and gravel

During the experience, Martin drove on snow, ice and gravel roads, discovering the TerrainContact A/T 2 in conditions far removed from the everyday commute.

The vehicles used included Land Rover Defenders and Toyota Land Cruisers, equipped with 255/70 R18 tires. From gravel routes to icy terrain, the itinerary gave participants an opportunity to experience the tire across different driving environments.

Martin’s reaction was enthusiastic:

“Amazing traction—unbelievable handling and very strong on braking!”

— Martin Gendron, President, blackcircles.ca

Traction, handling and braking were the standout qualities in his personal driving experience. With Iceland’s expansive landscapes surrounding the vehicles, the adventure brought the idea of the “road less travelled” to life.

Introducing the Continental TerrainContact A/T 2

The Continental TerrainContact A/T 2 is a premium all-terrain tire designed for crossovers, SUVs and light trucks.

It is built for drivers who want the versatility to explore unpaved routes while maintaining the comfort and road manners they need for daily driving.

According to Continental, key features include:

  • TractionPlus Technology, designed to support traction, durability and wet-road grip while helping reduce road noise.

  • A versatile tread design, balancing off-road capability with everyday driving comfort.

  • The Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake designation, indicating that the tire meets industry requirements for severe snow service.

For Canadian drivers, that versatility connects with a familiar mix of journeys: highway travel, gravel roads to the cottage, camping trips and weekends exploring somewhere new.

Martin’s Iceland experience offered a firsthand introduction to the tire in varied conditions, complementing Continental’s published product information.

Discovering Iceland beyond the drive

The driving experience was only part of the adventure. Continental’s itinerary also gave participants the opportunity to discover several of Iceland’s memorable attractions.

At the Blue Lagoon, milky-blue geothermal waters offered a change of pace from the driving activities. Surrounded by volcanic landscapes, the spa provided a striking contrast to the snow and ice encountered elsewhere on the trip.

In Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital, the group explored a different side of the country, including the distinctive Hallgrímskirkja church tower.

The itinerary also included Kerið Crater, with its lake framed by colourful volcanic slopes, and Gullfoss Falls, where cascading water and rising mist created another spectacular stop.

Together, these visits made the journey a memorable combination of driving, discovery and Icelandic scenery.
