Genesis GV60 Magma: maximum grip for spectacular power

When we talk about performance, we often think of horsepower or acceleration. But in the case of the Genesis GV60 Magma, it’s the tires that set the tone right from the start. And that’s fitting, since at Blackcircles.ca, that’s exactly where it all begins: the right tires completely transform the driving experience. Genesis knows it well. On the GV60 Magma, nothing is left to chance. The model rolls on 275/35R21 Pirelli P Zero tires, clearly designed for high-performance driving.

A quick reminder: the newly created Magma division is the performance arm of Genesis, the Korean luxury automaker. After unveiling a hypercar set to compete in the global endurance circuit, the brand is now extending the Magma name to road-ready versions. The fully electric GV60, officially arriving at the end of summer, is the first.

The right tire choice

The tire choice for the GV60 Magma is anything but random. The P Zero is an ultra-high-performance summer tire engineered to maximize grip, stability, and cornering precision. And on a vehicle like the GV60 Magma, that makes perfect sense. This electric SUV delivers up to 478 kW (650 horsepower) in boost mode, with nearly 585 lb-ft of torque. In other words, without proper tires, harnessing all that power effectively would be a real challenge.

Visually, it stands out too. The 21-inch forged wheels, finished in matte graphite, fill the widened fenders perfectly. More importantly, they contribute to a slightly lower and wider stance, about 20 mm lower, which directly improves handling. The result: a more aggressive posture and a noticeably sharper road feel.

More than luxury

The GV60 Magma isn’t just another premium electric SUV, it’s a machine built to attack corners. And the tires play a major role in that. With a high wet-grip rating and low noise levels, the P Zero offers an appealing balance between sportiness and refinement.

Of course, performance always comes with trade-offs. Range hasn’t been announced yet, but expectations are around 346 km, similar to the Ioniq 5, which shares many of its components. That’s a bit less than the more conservative versions of the GV60, which makes sense: agility comes at a cost.

Every component on the GV60 Magma is fine-tuned for performance. Swapping those tires for less capable ones would completely change the vehicle’s behaviour.

In addition to its performance tires, the Genesis GV60 Magma features oversized brakes, sharpened suspension tuning, dedicated drive modes including a Drift setting, a unique display, and sport seats. It’s more than a luxury SUV, it’s a genuine performance machine.

The Genesis GV60 Magma perfectly proves one thing: true performance isn’t just about the motor or battery. Brakes, engineering, steering precision, all play pivotal roles. But ultimately, real performance always comes down to one essential point: the connection with the road.
