All terrain and mud terrain tires; which one to choose

Two good questions to ask yourself to make sure you do the right choice for your "off-road" tires:

1- how often do you go off-road?

2- What type of terrain and where do you go most of the time?

All terrain tires

All terrain tires, as the name states, are tires that can be used pretty much everywhere, on paved road and off-road.

This will do everything good but won't be great in any particular segment. This type of tire will be fit for someone who

drives, most of the time, on a mix of paved roads, gravel, light mud and snow. This type of tire will fit for 90-95% of the time for a lot of people who are seeking

this type of tire. If you drive 95% of the time on paved roads, you may want to go with a regular Passenger tire though.

Pros: Very Good on paved roads, gravel, sand, wet and snow. Good on fuel consumption and good durability/longevity.

Cons: Useless in Mud and extreme off-road driving. Makes more noise, less durability and performance on paved roads than a regular passenger tire.

Mud terrain tires

Mud terrain tires are for those who want to do extreme off-road. For those who wants to drive in mud, snow, steep hills, rocks, etc.

Tread blocks are more aggressive and deeper than an All terrain tire. This type of tire will give you the extra 5-10% extra performance for this type of driving comparing to an all terrain tire. They have a super aggressive and stiff sidewall which comes handy when doing rock climbing and mud driving.

Pros: King of the mud. Good on paved roads, gravel, sand and rocks. Ok in wet and snow.

Cons: Very noisy, not good on fuel consumption or durability and longevity. More vibration in your steering wheel.
